How to Choose a Qlik Solution Provider in South Africa

Start with certification, then look past it

Certification tells you a provider has met the requirements of the Qlik partner programme. Modern Management is a Certified Qlik Solution Provider. That status is a starting filter, not a delivery guarantee: it says nothing about whether the team has migrated a QlikView estate, tuned a client-managed environment under load, or run a governed release process across three environments.

Ask for dated delivery evidence

Vague statements about enterprise experience are easy to write. Dated evidence is not. Ask for the period of engagement, the scope of what was delivered, and whether the reference is current or historical.

• •What was in scope: data integration, application development, migration, governance, or platform administration?
• •Is the reference current or historical, and is a supporting letter available on request?
• •Who from the provider actually delivered the work, and are those people still available?

Test the governance model, not the demo

Most Qlik environments do not fail during the first build. They fail eighteen months later, when nobody can say which version of an app is in production, what changed, or how to roll back. Ask how the provider handles version control, environment promotion, release validation and rollback as standard practice.

Separate licensing from implementation

A licence quote is not a delivery plan. Establish who is supplying the Qlik subscription and who is accountable for the implementation, because those are different commercial commitments with different risks. Then look at how the platform choice affects the work: a Qlik Cloud tenant and a client-managed Qlik Sense deployment have materially different administration, connectivity and upgrade profiles, documented in the Qlik migration guidance.

Confirm South African delivery realities

For South African buyers there are practical questions that global capability statements tend to skip: local business hours coverage, on-site availability where a client-managed environment demands it, data residency and network egress considerations, and whether contracting happens under a South African entity or offshore.
